Remembering Jayar Santos
Jayar Santos was a founding sixth grade teacher at PVD Prep who sadly passed away in September of 2023. PVD Prep has established a scholarship in Jayar’s memory that is managed by the Rhode Island Foundation. PVD Prep will award a scholarship each year to a graduating eighth grader who embodies Jayar’s comittment to building a positive and supportive community.
In the summer of 2021 (before PVD Prep opened) all of our incoming teachers recorded a short, one-minute video introducing themselves to their soon-to-be students. Below is the video that Jayar recorded for PVD Prep. We think this video is classic Jayar - funny, welcoming and ready to build up the community.
